SAN JACINTO, California – One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on the Ramona Expressway at Lyon Avenue, according to a CAL FIRE/Riverside fire fighter report.
One person was pronounced dead upon the arrival of emergency workers and the second person was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, the report said.
One of the drivers allegedly swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway and drove into oncoming traffic, according to a comment by Omar Gutierrez to a story on the crash written by the Press Enterprise. Gutierrez was a motorcyclist who stopped at the scene to help the crash victims.
Many times those injured in a traffic accident need extensive care and treatment for their injuries ranging from head injuries and broken bones to back and neck soft tissue injuries. Many times the crash is not the fault of the injured person, but someone else whose actions fell below the standard of care required under California law for all motorists. Motorists who are found liable for a car crash are also responsible for the injuries or death of anyone involved.
